My first pre-loved watch purchase: the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model 1601

I finally took the plunge to invest in one pre-loved Rolex. Bought it from City Time Enterprise, it does not come with boxes, papers or even the bracelet. The body is immaculate and the dials as well as the movement is smooth like silk. The serial number is 1222*** which put its date of manufacture of 1960.

The 1601 uses the 1570 caliber movement which has the hacking mechanism in place. It is also chronometer certified. Although it has a date, it is the non-quick set version. Based on the known history of the watch, it was last serviced in 2002.

Its bezel is white gold while its case size is 36 mm without crown, lug to lug is 42 mm. Below is the watch on my wrist and the next picture is the body only (more details photos be coming soon).

  2. I agree. Especially the dive watches - Titanium is very stable in salt water conditions. The creation of a thin layer of titanium oxide protects the watch casing from further corrosion. Also easier to polish.

  3. I still prefer to get new watch instead of preloved unit

    1. Thanks for visiting.

The price for a 1601 can vary wildly depending on the quality and completeness of each unit.

My only advice is that you physically inspect it before making any decision. Do not buy via the internet unless you know the seller completely.
